WHAT IS THE NATIONAL PENNY FARTHING CHAMPIONSHIP?

Pennyfarthing enthusiasts converge on the Tasmanian town of Evandale from throughout Australia and overseas to vie for a series of races, held on a triangular circuit in the centre of the village. Market stalls and a variety of entertainments are situated in the streets and parks surrounding the race circuit, creating the ambience of a colonial country fair.

The Championship is organised by the Evandale Village Fair Inc., in conjunction with the Velocipede Society of Tasmania Inc.

2008 EVENT INFO

Once again, the streets of Evandale came alive for the National Penny Farthing Championship, an integral part of the Evandale Village Fair.

This year's event was more exciting than usual, as there were no former champions competing in the 2008 race.

A New South Welshman, by the name of Huw Morgan, took out this year's race, just ahead of regular runner-up Steve Gray (who has claimed second place for the past 3 years running!).

The women's Championship was won again by Bell Chamberlain, who appreciated the closer competition this year.

For full details, please visit the Evandale Village Fair and National Penny Farthing Championships website.
